Ebelic It is a municipality of Colombia, located in the Western Subregion of the Department of Antioquia, borders the North with the municipalities of Santa Fe de Antioquia, Sopetrán and San Jerónimo, by the East with the municipalities of San Jerónimo and Medellín, by the south with the municipalities of Heliconia and Armenia and the West with the municipality of Anzá. Its header is 42 kilometers from the city of Medellín, capital of the department of Antioquia. Its extension is 235 square kilometers.

Before the arrival of the conquerors, the valley of the today municipality of Ebéjico was populated by the aboriginal tribes Ebelic and Kids , both groups of the Nutabes family.

In 1595, Don Gaspar de Rodas, after beating the natives, proceeded to award the lands of Ebéjico to the victors, and to entrust the natives to the captain Manuel López Bravo . Already in 1830, the hamlet carried the original name of “Community”.

In 1833, by order of the governor Juan de Dios Aranzazu , the parish was created with the name of Ebéjico, since the territory was inhabited by the indomitable tribe of the same name. The governor Plum erected in the municipal district to the Miraflores Valley Community and pointed it as a seat of the new town (today ebéjico).

This municipality is administratively divided into 5 corregimientos, Brazil, Seville, Zarzal, Clara and Guayabal , and in 32 paths; between them, Fatima, Blanquizal, Community and the Rent . Ebéjico communicates by road with the municipalities of San Jerónimo, Medellín, Heliconia and Anzá.

The municipality has 100% of the territory in the Cauca River basin where 90% of the municipality’s ravines flow through the River River and 10% especially in the paths of the Seville district, they do it directly to Cauca.

Access roads [ To edit ]

The main access road to the municipality from the city of Medellín is located on the road to Santafé de Antioquia, crossing the west tunnel Fernando Gómez Martínez. “It is connected with the road to the sea, of which 15km are on paved road and 4.3km uncovered.

The alternate route is to take the road to the sea, leaving San Cristóbal, passing through Boquerón and Palmitas until reaching the municipality. Another route is taking the exit of San Antonio de Prado, passing through Heliconia.
