NBA ends of 1982

The NBA ends of 1982 They were the final series of the 1982 playoffs and supposed the conclusion of the 1981-82 season of the NBA, with the victory of Los Angeles Lakers, champion of the West Conference, about Philadelphia 76ers, champion of the East Conference. Four final players were subsequently chosen for the Basketball Hall of Fame, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson and Bob Mcadoo by the Lakers, and Julius Erving for the 76ers.

After eliminating the Celtics, the 76ers began strong in the first game of the finals and maintained a difference of 15 points compared to the Lakers in the middle of the third quarter. Emphasizing the defense, the Lakers achieved a partial of 40-9 in the next 11 minutes. Finally, the Californians won the victory for 124-117, which stole the field advantage at 76ers.

In the second meeting, the Lakers Pat Riley coach opted for a different defensive approach, assigning Magic Johnson as a defender of Julius Erving. Erving scored 24 points and collected 16 rebounds, most of them defensive. Billy Cunningham used all its pivots, Caldwell Jones, Darryl Dawkins and Earl Cureton, at different points against Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. The Sixers got 38 offensive rebounds, while the Lakers only made six.

The Sixers achieved the triumph by 110-94 and matched the series. Maurice Cheeks contributed 19 points and 8 assists, Jones 12 points and 11 rebounds, and Bobby Jones and Clint Richardson 10 points each.

Back to The Forum, the Lakers completely dominated the third game. Normon Normon scored 29 points and the Californians beat 129-108. Andrew Toney scored 36 and Julius Erving 21.

The Lakers controlled the tempo in the fourth match and added one more victory, putting up the series up the series for the 76ers. Jamaal Wilkes and Magic Johnson added 24 points each, while Abdul-Jabbar added 22 and Bob Mcadoo 19 from the bench. Kurt Rambis helped with 11 rebounds.

In Philadelphia, the Sixers destroyed the Lakers for 135-102. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar scored 6 points, thanks to the defensive spirit of Darryl Dawkins, who contributed 20 points and 9 rebounds.

The 76ers arrived strong after the easy previous victory, but the Lakers left to the break up on the scoreboard by 66-57. In the third period, the 76ers increased the defensive level, reducing an advantage of 20 points and placing to a point of the Angels. Bob Mcadoo, better known for his offensive abilities, made a key defensive play at the end of the third quarter by plugging a Julius Erving tray that would have put at 76ers ahead.

The Lakers increased their advantage in the last quarter to 11 points. Andrew Toney, author of 30 points, and Erving, with 29, cut the advantage at 103-100 in the absence of four minutes to the end. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar got a basket and a free trio to put the six points ahead. Moments later, Wilkes decided with a basket and closed the score and the championship for Los Angeles, by 114-104.

Jamaal Wilkes led the Lakers with 27 points, and Magic Johnson, with 13 points, 13 rebounds and 13 assists, was named MVP of the finals.
