Christian Felix Ackens – Wikipedia

Christian Felix Ackens (Born January 24, 1816 in Montjoie, Duchy of Jülich, † March 18, 1886 in Aachen, Kingdom of Prussia, German Empire) was a German choir director, composer and functionary. He was of great importance in Aachen’s club life in his time and was president of the Rhenish Singers’ Association.

On November 18, 1839, the Concordia men’s singing club was founded in Aachen with twenty members. Christian Felix Ackens was the founder and the first conductor of the choir. Ackens also came to the public as a singer. At the Rheinische Musikfest 1857, after the committed bassist Franz Dalle Aste failed due to illness, parts of the bass area with a performance of the Messiah and the bass section in Schumanns The singers curse Under the direction of Franz Liszt. His funeral took place on March 21, 1886 with the participation of many clubs. The corpse train led from its house to the Catholic cemetery and was made by several choirs with chants and from the Mohrschen chapel accompanied with funeral marches. On July 29, 1887, Christian Felix Ackens was from the men’s choir Concordia Aachen a grave monument with a height of over six meters on the Catholic churchyard built. The monument was made by the sculptor Reiner from Burtscheid. [21] In its edition of March 19, 1886, the Aachener Zeitung wrote about Ackens: “[…] If one has ever made improvements in musical areas in local city, it was the deceased.” [3]
