Sân bay quốc tế Francisco Bangoy (Cebuano: Tugpahanang Pangkalibutan sa Francisco Bangoy ), còn được biết đến và vẫn thường được gọi là Sân bay quốc tế Davao ICAO: RPMD ), là sân bay chính phục vụ Thành phố Davao và Vùng Davao ở Philippines. Sân bay quốc tế Francisco Bangoy bắt đầu hoạt động vào những năm 1940 với việc hiến đất ở Barangay Sasa, nằm ở quận Buhangin của thành phố Davao, bởi Don Francisco Bangoy, tộc trưởng của một gia đình có ảnh hưởng, sau này làm đại biểu quốc hội. Nhà ga hành khách P2,7 tỷ là một tòa nhà lấy cảm hứng từ kiến ​​trúc Malay. lớn hơn bốn lần so với thiết bị đầu cuối cũ. Nó được vi tính hóa hoàn toàn, an toàn hơn và có nhiều không gian thương mại hơn cho những người được nhượng quyền với diện tích khoảng 9.000 mét vuông cho tổng diện tích cho thuê. Nó có bốn đơn vị cầu máy bay phản lực cho hành khách. Nó cũng có Hệ thống hiển thị thông tin chuyến bay và hệ thống truyền hình mạch kín bổ sung cho hệ thống an ninh của nhà ga.

Nhà ga có 14 quầy làm thủ tục quốc tế và 14 quầy có thể xử lý lưu lượng hành khách ổn định. Các quầy làm thủ tục được trang bị cân và băng tải điện tử và hệ thống xử lý hành lý của nó cũng được vi tính hóa. Nó cũng có 2 khu vực đến, cho trong nước và quốc tế với 2 băng chuyền hành lý mỗi. Tòa nhà ga hàng hóa bao gồm gần 5.580 mét vuông và có thể xử lý tới 84.600 tấn hàng hóa mỗi năm.

Sân bay có một đường băng dài 3.000 mét rộng 45 m có thể điều khiển các máy bay thân rộng như Airbus A330, Airbus A340, Airbus A350, Airbus A380, Boeing 737 Thế hệ tiếp theo, Boeing 747, Boeing 757, Boeing 767, Boeing 777 và Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Việc lắp đặt hệ thống hạ cánh thiết bị mới (ILS) cho cả Đường băng 05 và 23 đã nâng cấp tuân thủ đối với hạng mục vận hành của Tổ chức Hàng không Dân dụng Quốc tế (ICAO) – Loại tiếp cận chính xác Loại 1. Nó có thể đáp ứng 8-10 lần hạ cánh máy bay mỗi giờ và có 9 khu vực giữ cổng tương đương cho các máy bay đó. Sân bay cũng có 2 đường dẫn taxi kép. Taxiways A3 và A4 được sử dụng để truy cập đoạn đường nối và nhà ga mới; taxiways B và C được sử dụng để truy cập vào đoạn đường nối sân bay cũ. [7]

Máy bay lớn nhất hạ cánh tại sân bay quốc tế Francisco Bangoy là Antonov An-124. Antonov An-124 là máy bay lớn thứ tư trên thế giới, bên cạnh Boeing 747-8.

Bên cạnh tòa nhà ga chính, còn có các cơ sở hỗ trợ mới như Tòa nhà Hành chính, Tòa nhà Bảo trì Sân bay, Tòa nhà Trung tâm, Hangar cho Quân đội và Huấn luyện máy bay và Tòa nhà chữa cháy / tai nạn / cứu hộ. Nó có một khu vực đậu xe ô tô 688 chỗ và 4 chỗ cho xe buýt đưa đón. Nó có một máy phát điện dự phòng 3 megawatt.

  • In January 2017, the bidding started for the Rehabilitation and Expansion of Davao International Airport. It includes building a new passenger terminal and a second runway being considered. On May 22, 2017, Sec. Tugade decided that the funds will be from Overseas Development Assistance (ODA).
  • Rehabilitate existing terminal building and improvement of comfort rooms; expansion of existing terminal building, expansion of apron and vehicle parking area; consultancy services for the advance engineering, detailed engineering design and environmental impact assessment Study for Davao Airport Project; and construction of parallel taxiway and initial site acquisition for new airport site.
  • Improvements to enhance the safety, security, access, passenger and cargo movement efficiency, and operational efficiency.

Incidents[edit]

  • On April 19, 2000, Air Philippines Flight 541, a Boeing 737-200 en route from Manila to Davao crashed near the airport killing 131 people.[9][10]
  • On March 4, 2003, a bomb exploded in the waiting shed outside the old terminal building, killing 21 people. At least 145 others were injured when the bomb went off.[11]
  • On the night of August 25, 2008, a Philippine Air Force, C-130 Hercules bound for Iloilo City crashed into Davao Gulf shortly after take off from Davao International Airport. The aircraft sank 800 feet into the gulf. The incident killed nine crew members plus two Philippine Army soldiers.[12][13] After several days of a search-and-retrieval operation, the wreckage was found with the help of a US Navy ship, the USNS John McDonnell.[14]
  • On June 2, 2013, a Cebu Pacific Flight 971 (registration number RP-C3266) carrying 165 passengers inbound from Manila, overshot the runway during a heavy rain. There were no fatalities, however the plane was heavily damaged.[15] The damaged aircraft was moved to the old airport terminal for the investigation and parting.
  • On October 30, 2015, an engineer traveling back to Manila after a week-long stay was discovered to have possession of two 9mm bullets in his luggage. The engineer posted a bail of P120,000 and reclaimed the bail after charges against him were dismissed and he was allowed to continue to fly back to Manila. Davao officials including the Davao police reiterated that there are no bullet planting schemes in Davao while Rodrigo Duterte, then the city mayor and a presumptive 2016 presidential candidate, theorized that the engineer was victimized by the scheme when the latter was still in Manila and that the bullets were planted by a rogue NAIA personnel at a restricted section of the airport.
  • On 28 August 2018, A Philippine Airlines flight 2814 bound for Manila was canceled when a bird was caught in one of its engines while it was about to take off.[16]
